3 Forgotten Tips For Super Blogging

Posted on 15. Sep, 2009 by in Blogging

Old habits die hard; old principles always kick butt. Nothing works as well as snippets of evergreen wisdom. Blogging might be a modern concept, but the spine of successful blogging still rests on old, basic principles. See what they are:

ASK ( Attitude, Skills, Knowledge): Operate from this vantage point — you must have the attitude that comes from a thinking that whatever it is that you are doing, it helps your readers solve problems. Since all the information you provide solves your readers’ problems, you are doing a great thing. Secondly, there is a learning curve involved and you will need considerable expertise and skills to master the art of blogging. Finally, you will obviously have the necessary knowledge required to blog comfortably, consistently and for a long time.

Pay attention to the process, results will take care of themselves: Most bloggers obsess over the ‘Blog Stats” and number of visits. They ruminate about their abysmal subscriber count. Don’t ever worry about these numbers or stats. It will all take care of itself if you do just what you need to do — write great content, drive traffic to your blog and then develop rapport with your readers.

Rapport is paramount: Nothing works as well as rapport. Your ability to manage your readers, friends, customers and anyone else for that matter is the primary factor that determines the height of your success. It is not taught in schools and you can’t learn how to do it using some tutorial on the Internet. Practice, Rehearse and drill — that’s the best teacher there is. Get out there and learn how to develop rapport. As a digital alternative, you could try and develop rapport with your readers, commentators and all others on the Internet (remember Social Web 2.0?).

These tips are  old school, classic and still incredibly effective. What do you think?
