There are not many rules that are set in stone on how to blog. Having said that, bloggers can increase their exposure by following some very simple blog guidelines.

1 Stay on your Subject

Opinions are generally accepted but the content of the items in the blog should all relate to the same general subject. For the most part a majority of your readers will be interested in the content that relates to a specific defined subject or defined area of specific interest. Most of your readers won’t care that you love dogs. They may, however, be interested in how Google ranks websites. Define a subject and stick to that. This will make sure that you create a loyal following of interested readers that will return to your blog again and again.

2 Be Informative

If you are looking to create the impression that you are an expert and very knowledgeable on a specific industry or subject, make sure that you keep up current on news and trends. When you are endorsing a products or just voicing an opinion something, be sure to check up on all your facts; your reputation is out in the open and at stake. If you are offering an opinion, making it clear that the content in the post is intended as an editorial.

3 Make it Clear and Simple

Keep your posts and blog entries clear and simple to understand. You have to keep in mind, the web is global and expressions, slang words and acronyms may not always translate. More often than not a little explanation can really go a long way to your readers happy.
