How To Make Your Blog Pro Web 2.0

Social bookmarking and social networking is the rage and as I write that, it already feels so much cliched. Who needs the Search engines when ‘The Tipping Point” can be reached by the stupendous power of the social bookmarking sites and social networking sites. I dug the trenches and saw that some things work while some don’t. Here are some of those things that worked:
You got to play dirty: Most people shy away from marketing themselves — their products and services. Most forums even forbid you from blatantly marketing yourself, your products and your services. But the rule is to be blatant nonetheless. Even before you set out to promote, make up your mind to play dirty, think for yourself and be as selfish as possible. You got to be utterly guiltless and not even think twice about how others might feel about you tooting your own horn. You will invoke the wrath of some people across those common sites you visit, but that shouldn’t stop you.
You got to have a thick skin: The last sentence in the previous point leads to me to this one — you to got to develop a thick skin and manage the flak you are likely to gather. many people across your network – or sometimes outside of it — are going to pounce on you, tear you apart and rip you to shreds. keep your wits about you. Remember that it’s all digital and you don’t even know who is doing that to you. You never met these people. If they get upset about your efforts to promote your site/blog, services or products, it is really their problem. You just charge on.
Not all web 2.0 sites will work for you: There are even more websites that are like facebook.com and myspace.com. The list is huge and it lives, grows and multiplies as I am writing this. It doesn’t make sense for you to list your content everywhere. It is useless to open accounts with each web 2.0 site and try to spend time on all of them. It’s all a matter of trial-and-error. You will have to spend time with some of the best out there – say 12-15 of web 2.0 sites and see what brings you the most traffic. Once you arrive at a discernible pattern that seems to be working — you just stick to it.
