What Pick-Up Artists Can Teach You About Blogging
Posted on 25. Mar, 2010 by Ashwin in Blogging Elements
An unlikely match –a pickup artist and a blogger; a pick-u p artist is one who spends all his time and energy on picking up women for dating and a blogger is one who relentless writes/blogs about topics pertinent to their niche for various reasons. What can possibly be in common between these two different groups of people? A lot, if you ask me. Let me explain:
A true pick-up artist is outright crazy; an incorrigible risk-taker: The thing about these guys is that they are really crazy. They would do things normal guys can only either dream of or scoff at – either ways, the pick-up artist goes home with the girl. Why does he do that? That’s because a pick-up artist does things without any regard to results. He does things fearlessly and he often goes after women knowing very well that he might even fail (he doesn’t give a damn about that). The winning streak, the passion and the need to be with women or pick them up all the time keeps this guy going. Are there any lessons for bloggers? Blog on regardless; don’t worry about whose toes you are stepping on; keep at it no matter what and in time, you should succeed.
It’s an art to pick women up and a pick-up artist is prepared to learn: How many bloggers do you know who are willing to learn new things? Some do; some don’t. Most pick-up artists however, are always prepared to learn new ways of doing things. They read up on other artists’ field reports, new ways of picking women up, what works and what doesn’t, etc. Their willingness to learn and implement their new-found knowledge immediately is their key to success.
Pick-up Artists have a character; a unique sense of style: Take some of the well-known pick-up artists and dating gurus like Ross Jefferies, David De Angelo, Mystery, David Shade, Neil Strauss and Carlos Xumas – what is common apart from the fact that they are all dating gurus and well-known artists? Nothing else! Each of them has a unique approach to dating and wooing women; they have different methods and strategies and all of them are successful. The best thing is that each of these guys is unique and special in their own way, with their own sense of style. Bloggers can learn to do the same. They could strive to bring out a sense of unique style to their blogs.
On a final note, pick-up artists — unlike the Average Frustrated Chump who boasts of no success with women — exude a lot of confidence, play by the numbers and are basically a happier lot than most others. Could a similar approach towards blogging work?

Interesting analogy. I would say that pick-up artists have something to sell (themselves) also very much like bloggers.

@Pat — That’s right, Pat. Pick-up Artists are at this game all the time. For every pick-up they make, they would have had to approach so many women. They have to face rejection; but they never give up. That’s the thing bloggers have to learn from PUAs.
