What Topics Can You Possibly Blog on?

One of the most frequent questions asked by beginners who are new to blogging is what exactly they need to blog on. It wouldn’ have been such a difficult question if there was no commercial intent for a blogger. Reality is that there is a very specific intent for each blogger and that has to be achieved. If that’s the case, care must be taken to picck the right niche.To be able to arrive at a niche, taking this step-by-step aproach really makes sense.

Step 1: Hunt for what for you like

If you like something or if you are passionate about something, there are chances that at least a few more people in the world are just as passionate about it. That in itself is a green flag for you to dig into things you like. Don’t worry about the commercial interests of your readers yet (this can be covered in a later post). For now, just dig.

Step 2: Analyze and sort

Of all the topics you had picked up for blogging — presumably, topics you like and are passionate about — you’d now check to see if there is a commercial interest in for these topics. That means, do people buy anything relevant to the topic you are blogging on? You may use free tools like the ubiquitously used Google Keyword Tool or The Keyword Analysis Tool from Seobook. Find out how many people enter your keywords. You may also want to check for the listings to the far right of every SERP (Search Engine Rankings Page) to see if any of your competitors sell what you intend to sell.

Step 3: Develop content

There is a reason why you have been asked to pick up a topic you are passionate about because blogging is about long-term commitment and you just have to love what you do to keep up to the stringent demands blogging tends to make. For the set frequency of the blog posts, for years to come isn’t a joke — especially if you have no intentions of letting others write for you. Since you are passionate about this topic, the content is going to be out-standing and that brings in scores of readers.
