I for the most part choose the paid themes on these same terms. Witch is that I myself am not a big coder. For the most part paid themes give you a lot greater ability to customize your site without having extensive code knowledge.</description>

Paid or premium themes have other benefits such as support witch can be worth the price if you are not technically inclined.  Although free themes have vastly been improving over the last year or two.  Now you are able to find free themes with more back end flexibility such as easy banner ad insertion.  Overall do what makes you happy, after all that is what matters most.</description>
